Our first group exhibition is taking place now at a popular  cafe called “Sanbancho cafe”  in  Hanzomon Tokyo.

Place:  Sanbancho Cafe  – 8 minutes walk from Hanzomon Station – Tokyo Metro -

This time I made several new illustrations for this exhibition.

The theme was “Daisuki” – Loving so much – and I found cats in most of my drawings ;-)

We sell original products too and plan to donate all of the sales to Tohoku.

Sanbancho Cafe is one of my favorite cafes in Tokyo.

Nice location, an old but nice building, friendly people, wonderful food especially sweets !

Well, after the earthquake I had not been drawing so much, I just din’t  feel like it.  Now little by little I started working again for the group exhibition in August in Tokyo with some of my friends.

Its been a long time after a great shock …

Its been a long time after a great shock of earthquake and tsunami.  I have experienced many things myself too.

So almost 3 months have passed but still many people are suffering in Miyagi, my hometown, and other areas in Tohoku.

My family lives not on the coast so tsunami did not affect their life, but my mother lost her cousin who lived in Higashimatsusima.

In Higashimatsushima, there was a beautiful beach and I remember we often visited there for swimming in summer when I was a kid. So looking at the situation  of Higashimatsushima after the earthquake was a great shock for me too.

Higashimatsushima Nobiru area

And I am not sure if its from the mental stress of the earthquake or not, last month I had a operation of my back because of hernia.

I suddenly could not stay up and and had to call an ambulance to go to the hospital.

I am OK now but still have some difficulties of walking long …

So … I have re-started my web shop in Etsy this month and now am preparing new products of myself and friends including the ones in Tohoku area.

I am still looking for  some ways of helping people in Miyagi, thinking of many projects, I should not forget about it.

Thats all for now. ;-)

Huge earthquake shock in Japan

Yesterday afternoon when I was walking inside a subway station in Tokyo, there happened a huge earthquake.  All the subways and Railways stopped and the big city Tokyo was paralyzed.

I had to walk back to my apartment and found many things fell down all over the floor, then my husband picked up our kids and came home. So we were all safe.

But  it was not serious in Tokyo, compared to my home town Miyagi.  I was so scared, since all my family members live in that area.

I have been trying to call my mother but all the lines are busy and still cannot know how they had spent the cold night without electricity and water. – Just once last night I could talk to her for 10 seconds. At least they are alive but the house seems to be horrible..  -

Today I have been watching TV and following the twitter time line to catch newest info, but not so much about my home town.

The impact of Tsunami is incredible. How can we imagine so huge Tsunami could have reached up to several kilometers from the coast within a few hours after the earthquake ?

In Sendai TV says  2 or 3 hundreds of dead bodies were found on the coast !! and

now more than 1000 people are missing.

I am still trying to contact my parents and praying for them.

I got so many emails from friends from all over the world. Thank you so much.

Its OK in Tokyo but still almost no news from our family in Miyagi …

In Tokyo Kudanshita, just after the first big one.

Last night my kids were drawing with padded cover on top of their heads.

It was the first time for them to spend such a frightening night.

so … revised the design

I have changed  the design of this blog, made it very simple with my KOKESHI like  illustration.

I will try to write more often this year. ;-)

Hinamatsuri Postcard

I just made postcards with the illustration of  Hinamatsuri Dolls.

I think last year I wrote about Hinamatsuri Festival

– a traditional Doll Festival and also a girl’s day to celebrate their health. -

This postcards, you can just cut the pink part and make it stand up, so you can decorate it.

If you like it you can visit my shop at Etsy.

Opened a Shop in Etsy

Its been a long time. Its already in 2011 !!

I have been very busy for preparing many projects and just last week I opened a shop in Etsy.

The shop name is Chic Japon presenting unique and creative goods by Japanese artists and creators.

I have only 5 items right now, but updating more and more in a few months.  So please keep in toutch.

no Autumn but winter already

Its been a loooong time … sorry.

I have been a little bit busy these days, and now its almost winter in Japan.

So this year has been really crazy,  this summer was soooo hot and now its becoming really cold already in November.  In Japan we should have 4 seasons but this year only summer and winter ?

Besides crazy weather,  I will try to look for some interesting topics again in Tokyo soon …

See you soon !

Japanese Stamps with Manga Naruto

I really like the design of the Japanese stamps – KITTE 切手 きって -  these days. I am not a collector but when I go to the post office and see these stamps I cannot help buying them.

Yesterday I bought 80 yen stamps with Naruto. There are several series of Japanese popular animations or MANGA.

Those set of 10 stamps are sold at the post office at 800 yen, and of course you can use them to send postal mails,  but I don’t really use them separately.  They are so beautiful as it is.  ;-)

art and kids

It has been a long time…  I guess I have been so busy these days, but I am not sure why and for what …

Ah theres one thing…

I joined the company of my very young friends this month as a director and started to support their projects.

They are just a start up company and still far a way from being successful in making money, but I really like their concept to support artists and  their fans to keep their good relationship.

Anyway,  its just started and have many work to do, maybe I can help them to start their services in English in near future.

The web site in Japanese is here:

At the same time, I have been wondering how I can involve my kids with more creative activities, and these days I am thinking of organizing some workshops of art for kids.

I love kids’ art works ! They are really really creative and wish them to keep their creativity forever !

Here is my little girl’s art work. She wants to be a fashion designer.

She has just become 5 years last month.
